I like it very much to travel to different cities for visiting museums, where I can find out a lot about history, cultures and other interesting thinks. In each large city there are several exhibitions that can be regarded. For finding the locations, where these presentations can be seens, there are diverse possibilities. For example you can look for addresses of museums in a telephone book. Another possibility to find, where a certain exhibition is, is to use the internet. A lot of museums have a presentation on the internet that can be found by using a search engine. After you have found the link to the homepage you were searching for, you can click on it for reading what can be found in that museum. Furthermore you certainly will find a link on the site that leads you to a location plan. You can choose this menu item to get to the directions, which also can be printed out. Beside a description how to get to your destination it is possible that you find also a map, on which you see the streets that lead to the place, where you want to go. Instead of using the homepage of the museum itself for displaying a plan, you can also use a route planner on the internet. On a site of such a planner you can type in the addresses of your starting point and your destination. The result of your search is shown in the form of a description of a route and a map.
A city, where are very interesting museums, is e.g. Amsterdam. There you can find the Rijksmuseum, where a lot of paintings are presented. So there is e.g. the famous 'Nachwacht' that was painted by Rembrandt. Another museum that can be commended is the Van Gogh Museum with many works of the well-known Dutch artist. Close to this museum there is the Stedelijk Museum, where modern art is shown. Furthermore in the large Dutch city Amsterdam you find the Tropenmuseum, the Amsterdams Historisch Museum, the Anne Frank House, the Joods Historisch Museum and others.
In Belgium there are also a lot of places where a person who is interested in exhibitions should go to. In Brussels you can visit e.g. the Belgian Comics Museum, the Museum of the Army and the Royal Museum of Fine Art. Another very famous construction in the capital city of the EU, wherein exhibitions are presented, is the Atomium that is about 103 metres high. What is also very known, but can't be called a museum, is the Manneken Pis. This is a small sculpture that can be found at the junction of the Rue de l'Étuve and the Eikstraat. Many tourists come from everywhere to see the landmark in Brussels.
Porto, a known city in Portugal, offers several museums as the National Museum Soares dos Reis and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Of course, there is also a large supply of museums in the capital city of Portugal, which is Lisbon. Beside the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga there are the Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, the Museu do Azulejo and others.
It can be recommended to visit the museums of Madrid that is the largest city in Spain and also its capital. So there are e.g. the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, where modern art is exposed, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the National Archaeological Museum. In Barcelona there are interesting exhibitions either. In this Spanish city you find a science museum called Cosmocaixa, the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art and other museums.
I visited a lot of countries because of my cultural interest. So I saw a lot of museums during my stays in Denmark, Sweden, England, Wales, Ireland and other states. There were really a lot of exhibitions that attracted my interest, but I am not able to say which one was the most fascinating, as I like the diversity of all the sights in the world. For arriving at an special place I use my internet access. I type in the internet address of my favourite route planning site and enter the starting point and the destination of my planned journey. By using the calculated plans and maps I drive to the places I can reach by car. If this is not possible, I reserve an air ticket to travel by plane. My next tour I am looking forward to goes to Italy next year. Then I will view some places of interest in this southern European country.
